Matthew 4:4 a well known and well quoted scripture but do we take it to heart "man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." NAS
Just as the body requires bread to live so the spirit requires the Word of God to live. We eat three times a day, maybe more, how often do we eat the Word of God. We cannot live spiritually without nourishing our spirit with the Word, just as bread strengthens our body; so does the Word of God strengthen our spirit. Many Christians have malnourished spirits but very well nourished bodies.
